另一首值得推薦的《Wake Up Everybody》找來加拿大節奏藍調女歌手Melanie Fiona,和嘻哈饒舌歌手Common重新詮釋1976年Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes靈魂榜冠軍單曲,副歌〈The world won't get no better/ If we just let it be, na, na, na/ The world won't get no better/ We gotta change it, yeah/ Just you and me〉富有醒世勸善之意,這時就得談起John Legend強烈政治傾向,2008年他為Obama總統大選站台演唱,那時他與The Roots合作愉快,順水推舟促成這張《Wake Up!》的誕生,由此可知John Legend從不諱言他的政治立場,希望藉發聲抒一己之見改變社會陋習與衰敝。
"I've always been interested in the way the world works, in politics, in leadership, just trying to make the world better,Since I read so much about it, I'm paying so much attention, I have a lot of opinions about stuff, sometimes I be yelling to the TV, like, I cant believe they let this cat say this on TV and no one is responding. So every once in a while, I just want to go on and respond myself."
